The FLG is an association of families of lesbian mothers and gay fathers, who struggle for full equality of the rights of our families.

These are our goals:

Finding places where our sons and daughters can see and share family models like  theirs.

Working toward awareness and the claim of our rights as a family and of the rights of our children to have this family model and not to be, because of that unprotected.

It is in this sense that we organize outings, recreational, and ludic and informative encounters in the country or |in the city, to share experiences, to create friendships so that our daughters and sons know each other and play with other children who, like them, have two mothers or two fathers.

Also we participate in forums, meetings and talks to introduce our social and family reality. We have ascertained that the people who come to know us, love and accept us.

In addition, we contact institutions, politicians and political parties to explain our situation and to observe the full equality of our families with respect to the heterosexual families.

We have in these moments two laws that protect us, the Law of co-adoption for lesbian couples and gays of the Parliament of Catalonia (30 March of 2005), and the Law of Marriage for gays and lesbians of Madrid (30 June of 2005). But we have not yet won all of our rights; there is still a lot of work left to do. It is because of that that it is necessary that as an association of Lesbian and Gay Families we continue working for the full equality of the rights of our families.

SHORT HISTORY OF THE ASSOCIATION OF LESBIAN AND GAY FAMILIES

In November of 2001 a group of lesbian and gay, families believed in the need to speak about our reality, while raising visibility for our problems and our legal claims as well as our social normalization. Our small group kept growing fast, which it made us rethink in what ways we had to organize ourselves in order to achieve the goals that we had identified. For this reason that group of families of lesbians and gays, enjoyed the dialog and the consensus of all, and that became the association of Lesbian and GayFamilies (FLG); registered in the Record  of Associations of theGeneralitat de Catalunya on the 2nd April of 2003, with the no. 27437.

During these years the association, has been doing everything possible to participate in social and legal changes. They have achieved the approval of the law of co-adoption for lesbians and gays, in Catalonia (30 March of 2005), and the law of the marriage for gays and lesbians in Madrid (30 June of 2005).

We do not have it yet all won. Full equality is needed in assisted reproduction for lesbian couples, as well as heightened social awareness, equal treatment at schools and more educational material.

At present there are more than 100 families among our members and our supporters, and we expect many more!!
